International Academy for Professional Development Ltd

The International Academy for Professional Development Ltd was launched in 2010. It has been set up to provide internationally a range of courses offered by the Centres of Expertise group using distance and blended learning methods. Our established distance learning courses will continue to be offered.

In addition, the International Academy will be offering the following professional development and practice programmes:

  1. Certificate in Professional Development (Topic Specialism) Level 6; 10 Credits
  2. Certificate in Work Based Professional Development (Topic Specialism) Level 6; 5 Credits

These courses provide students with a blended learning approach to continuing professional development and education in their own particular field of work. Examples could include:

  • Accountancy
  • Business Development
  • Management
  • Leadership
  • Coaching
  • Coaching Psychology
  • Coaching Supervision
  • Cognitive Therapy
  • Stress Management
  • Health Education
  • Health Promotion
  • Health and Safety

The only limitation on the topic specialism is the requirement for the International Academy for Professional Development to be able to provide a suitable staff member attached to one of its centres or faculties to supervise the student.

The general courses objectives are below. The higher level programmes require a longer assignment to be completed.

Course Objectives

To assess professional development needs

To develop a personal profile

To develop a professional development plan

To undertake a professional development SWOT analysis

To undertake relevant self-directed work-based professional development and provide a summary article suitable for publication or abstracting in the Journal of the International Academy for Professional Development

To develop a presentation relating to your professional development and present it to your course learning set or trainer

To maintain a professional development record of learning
